Finally! a product to fix the failure prone starter mounting holes on 6.2 6.5 even Big Block Chevy’s and Small Block Chevy’s with high compression.
We use a true diesel starter and you retain the diesel flex plate/flywheel also so you maintain high cranking RPM. The starter is a custom built and is not available anywhere else.
There is a kit out there for gasser low compression Chevy’s but it will not work on a high compression diesel. They use a 168 tooth flex plate and a small weak starter. The RPM will be very low and may not even start our old 6.5’s & 6.2’s
This kit relocates your starter from the broken block to our new plate. The block mounted starters are failure prone and known to break the block or rip the threads out.
The old way to fix this was by welding or if lucky you could buy some more time with a Helicoil repair kit but that is always a temp fix. Cast iron welding is expensive to do right
And most likely you will have to remove the engine and all the logistics involved in that.
The only other option was to possibly spend thousands of dollars and replace the engine DUE TO SOME STUPID THEADS THAT BROKE!!
Not anymore! you now have this kit available. Install this kit with engine still in the truck!
NOTE: the new bellhousing bolts will not have the little studs on the head side for the trans dip stick or fuel hose bracket, but you should be able to modify those pretty easy to go under the head of new bolts or you could install threaded rod with nuts in place of new bolts.
You will need to modify the torque converter cover, Shown in video is a stamped steel one, if you have a cast aluminum it will be a similar modification. If you are not comfortable and knowledgeable with a kit like this it is highly recommended you take it to a mechanic for install.
